2017 saw the launch of Irish Black Butter on the shore of Whiterocks Beach, Portrush and just two years later in 2019, brought about its feature on the BBC Two television programme Dragons Den.
Founder Alastair has put his own modern twist on the traditional black butter, and created an Irish version perfect for fine food enthusiasts, home cooks, chefs and international visitors alike.
Created using EU PGI status Armagh Bramley Apples, cider, brandy, treacles and spices, Irish Black Butter is the perfect versatile dairy and wheat free addition to toast, biscuits and cheese pairings.
Steeped in locality, quality and provenance, Irish Black Butter has won numerous awards; including the Three Gold Stars Award, two awards for Cheese Accompaniment at the 2019 Nantwich International Cheese Award, Artisan Producer of the Year at the 2019 Farming Life Awards and the Chefs Choice Award at the 2018 Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards.
As of 2020, Irish Black Butter has also extended to Irish Black Butter Peanut Spread, winning Best New Product Award at Scotland’s Speciality Food Show the same year.
