The North Coast is renowned for its eclectic range of culinary offerings, but if you want to say ‘hola’ to some fabulous Spanish food, then Ocho Tapas in the heart of Portrush is the place to be.
The restaurant was opened in 2015 by Trudy and Sean Brolly, both of whom had enjoyed long careers in catering.
After many sunny years in Spain, Trudy wanted to bring her passion for Spanish cooking to Northern Ireland. Coupled with Sean’s interest in wines and sherries, Ocho Tapas was a culinary marriage made in heaven!
Close to the world-renowned Giant’s Causeway and central to the uber popular holiday destination of Portrush, the restaurant is renowned for serving fresh, local seafood and a terrific range of dishes that are based around locally-sourced produce.
Ocho Tapas is the perfect venue for both family meals and social get-togethers. The ambience is relaxed and friendly and the restaurant is also perfect for those looking for vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free dietary requirements, so there’s definitely something for everyone.
The fact that the restaurant serves up until 11pm (Monday to Saturday) makes it the ‘go to’ place for those looking for a true night out.
The menu regularly features new dishes and so it’s a great idea to call ahead to both book and to check out the daily food diary, which is also available on Facebook.
Those who enjoy the food also have the option of learning how to make it themselves thanks to the great range of cookery classes that Ocho Tapas run on a regular basis.
At the paella cookery class, for example, you can learn how to prepare the classic traditional Spanish paella dish while enjoying a glass of Cava, bread board and traditional dips.
For everything Spanish and for the ultimate ‘buena noche’, Ocho Tapas is the perfect venue!
